Great Room Tour

In honor of The Parade of Homes happening this week in Iowa City, I’ll start a tour for you of a home I completed this past year. I had the privilege of designing, furnishing, and decorating the whole house.

First we will start in the Great Room.

My clients wanted a neutral palette in here, and for the space to feel light and airy. I added lots of natural textures so the room did not lack warmth. They also valued natural light, so we made a couple of the windows larger than what was originally on the plans. We also added built in benches under these windows, for extra seating and storage. They love to entertain, so the more seating we could fit in here, the better. I love to look at house plans to see how I can problem solve, and make them better for each specific family and their needs.
