Travel: Charleston architecture, plants, and inspiration.
My husband and I took our honeymoon this summer, 10 1/2 years late. Better late than never right?! Our criteria for this trip was something with a beach, live music, and historical site seeing. So a couple years ago we started researching where the perfect spot for both of us would be, and landed on Charleston South Carolina.
I’ll share more about that trip later, but for now, I wanted to show you all the beautiful downtown Charleston architecture. My husband surprised me with a trip in our rental car to Rainbow Row and a neighboring street with beautiful gardens. All he said was, “bring a camera”. Gosh I love that human. He knows me too well. I told him later that it was basically what I want heaven to look like! haha!
We walked down Rainbow Row, house after house was a different color with beautiful shutters, ornate iron pieces, unique doors, and window boxes spilling with beautiful plants. The streets were lined with palms and other large old trees, and the yards were sectioned off with iron fences and overgrown creeping shrubbery. It was beautiful. I couldn’t stop clicking my camera!
A sweet older couple snapped this picture for us on my iPhone. I even wore pink and green without knowing our plans, which happened to match most of the houses and landscape. And they also happen to be my two favorite colors…. so another reason why I think this is what heaven should look like! I’m kidding, kind of, I’m sure heaven will be even more beautiful… knowing that God is the creator of all beauty. But truly…. I couldn’t get enough of the scenery in downtown Charleston.
I think exploring what you find to be beautiful is the BEST way to spark your creativity. I felt so ready after this to create something. Which timed wonderfully with my planned blog launch just a month after this trip.
Finally I snapped one of this guy by himself…. Such a fun, heart-filling day. Thanks to my husband for a perfectly planned day! And cheers to 10 years and counting!
